Description

The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Doctoral Teaching Intern to join our Master of Family Therapy (MFT) Program on the Macon campus beginning August 1, 2019 and ending no later than July 31, 2020. MUSM provides training in the biopsychosocial/spiritual model and a family systems perspective for physicians and other health care providers. The MFT program is a deeply rooted, integral part of MUSM, for the past twenty-five years training both MFT and medical students to fulfill the schools mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically underserved areas of Georgia. The department faculty is multi-disciplinary and provides a positive, supportive, and collegial atmosphere. The department also interfaces with other clinical departments and the basic science faculty of the medical school.

Responsibilities of the position are:

  • to teach MFT courses (opportunities for medical student instruction are available).

  • to serve as a clinical supervisor to MFT students.

  • to contribute to governance of the Mercer MFT program by participating in regular faculty meetings, student admissions decisions, curriculum reviews, clinical evaluations of students, and/or special committees as needed (i.e., faculty/staff hiring interviews).  

  • to serve as a student-centered academic and professional development mentor to students.
