Description
This educational position is for selected marriage and family therapy graduate (MA) students at the University of Houston –Clear Lake. In addition to participating in educational activities within the family medicine residency’s behavioral medicine curriculum, MedFT interns function as integrated patient-centered medical home (PCMH) team members, providing support and brief interventions to patients in the family medicine outpatient clinics. Having MedFT interns in the classroom and clinics helps our team to provide leadership (regionally and nationally) in developing an integrated model that has been recognized as exemplary. Because interns are not yet licensed and are unable to collect fees for their services, their position is not compensated. Yet, they gain the clinical experience and supervision to meet their graduation requirements.
